Our first sermon from 'online church' in the Covid-19 pandemic. A very short bit was cut off the start of the sermon.
Jesus is the resurrection and the life. He's not just a wonder worker, but the one who brings life out of death, light out of darkness and hope out of despair. His raising of Lazarus points to his identity and the presence of God with us through the darkest of times.
This sermon was preached with Pakenham Lakeside Church's online church on Sunday 29th March, 2020.

When Jesus calls his first disciples, they are amazed and fearful at a miraculous catch of fish. Ordinary people who encounter Jesus are transformed by him. We too are called - and equipped! by Jesus to become 'fishers for people' and to see amazing things happen as we follow him.

Judgement Day
Tuesday Nov 27, 2018
Tuesday Nov 27, 2018
The very word 'judgement' can bring up fear and anxiety in our minds. We don't like being judged, evaluated, criticised, or held to account - by others or even by our own internal voice. How much more anxious we can get when we contemplate God's judgement! However, in John 5, Jesus gives us good news about judgement. He says 'The Father judges no one but has entrusted all judgement to the Son.'
So the Judge - the Lord of all, who has authority over all creation - is also the Saviour - the lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world. His judgement is the one that ultimately matters. And he says 'Whoever believes him who sent me will not come into judgement but has passed over from death to life!'
This sermon was preached at Pakenham Lakeside Church on Sunday 25th November 2018 (the last Sunday of the church year).

In Acts 13, the Christian community is praying and fasting and the Holy Spirit speaks to them very clearly: 'Set apart Saul and Barnabus for the work I have called them too.'
Hearing God's voice and discerning what the Holy Spirit is saying is best done in community. This sermon explores how to hear God's voice together, and gives some real life examples of what that looks and sounds like.

Part 1 of a sermon series about Spiritual warfare.
The battleground of spiritual warfare is the mind, and the only effective weapon the enemy has against us is the power of the lie. So it's vital to know how to take our thoughts captive in obedience to Christ and how to renew our minds.

Philippians 3 Ultimate value
Sunday Oct 08, 2017
Sunday Oct 08, 2017
In Philippians 3, Paul writes of what is of ultimate value to him. He had many things which he once thought made him 'right' with God and with which he attempted to fix the innate sense of wrongness that we all experience - his identity, family connections, hard work, religiousness. But when he encountered Jesus, all of those things were shown up of little worth compared to the ultimate value of knowing Christ. It is intimacy with Christ, knowing Jesus and being known by him, which is both the ultimate value and motivating power for our life as Christians.
This sermon was preached at Pakenham Lakeside Church on Sunday 8th October 2017.
